Groups from all around the world visit BootUP on a regular basis, but recently, we were thrilled to have one of our neighboring California regions visit us – the incredible group from Paso Robles. BootUP CEO & Founder, Mukul Agarwal, led engaging discussions with the City of Paso Robles and the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce on how to differentiate the city of Paso Robles and find their unique factor. Thank you to Jim Cogan for bringing this wonderful group to BootUP.
Please read how one of the participants, Lisa Cowell, DAOU Vineyards & Winery Estate Concierge/Ambassador, described her experience at BootUP: “Mukul Agarwal is decisively the most captivating speaker I have yet to meet. I was fortunate enough to visit BootUp Ventures recently while on a trip to Silicon Valley with fellow members of the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce and city officials. It was an unexpected privilege to meet Mukul and be part of the interactive group session. He does not deal with bureaucracy or democracy in business which respectfully set the tone for our time spent with Mukul. His intelligence, honesty and desire to delve deep within for the answers was inspiring and left us all wanting to return for more. Thank you Mukul for inspiring our group, I very much look forward to seeing you again.”
BootUP has had quite a wave of delegations from India these past months. At the end of September, we had the Vibrant Gujarat delegation, and this October, we were pleased to welcome 16 high potential, seeded startups from Mumbia, led by TiE Mumbai and AWS, together with USISPF.
The startups were treated to the famous BootUP “magic” with each receiving individualized storytelling and messaging training from Mukul Agarwal, Founder & CEO of BootUP. Even though some of the feedback was a bit of “tough love”, the startups took it all in and greatly benefitted. Following the session with Mukul, the startups had the incredible opportunity to pitch to a group of seasoned Silicon Valley investors and experts and have one on one conversations with interested investors. Many follow up meetings are in the planning, and we saw many of these startups back at BootUP later during their visit, expressing their interest in working with BootUP.
According to one of the entrepreneurs from the group, Prakash Advani from PicoNets: “Our time at BootUP with Mukul was definitely a highlight of our Silicon Valley trip. I would encourage all the startups from overseas to meet him and get his feedback.” This showcases how BootUP is providing very tangible value to entrepreneurs from all around the world, helping them with their mindset, their story, and getting them closer to their goals in scaling globally.
The bridge between Silicon Valley and Gujarat, India, just became stronger. During the recent Vibrant Gujarat delegation led by Arvind Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat, to Silicon Valley, BootUP Ventures signed a MoU with iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology), a Gujarat based incubator. This MoU seeks to leverage capabilities on both sides – BootUP providing a platform for Indian entrepreneurs to gain exposure to Silicon Valley and reach their next level of growth in the US, and iCreate providing a landing pad for US based innovators to understand business in India and evolve a model to enter the Indian market.
At a meeting at BootUP with the Vibrant Gujarat delegation, organized together with USISPF, the delegation was privileged to hear perspectives on Silicon Valley from leaders in Valley, representing the City of Menlo Park, investors, founders, etc.
During the meeting, Arvind Agarwal, ACS (Additional Chief Secretary) Finance, Government of Gujarat, expressed great satisfaction with this MoU and said that it would greatly facilitate both the exposure of Indian start-ups to the Silicon Valley culture, as well as offer a platform for Valley innovators to come and explore the Indian market. Parag Amin, Chief Mentor and a Founding Director of iCreate said that this symbolises the consolidation of iCreate’s journey of bringing best in class innovation to India, following on the heels of a very successful, similar initiative with Israel. He said that he was confident that BootUP would provide global perspectives, mentorship as well as funds to Indian start-ups and iCreate would offer a powerful platform for US innovators to launch their India operations from. Mukul Agarwal, Founder & CEO of BootUP Ventures, says BootUP has been eyeing India for some time, looking for ways to help his birth country, India, leapfrog ahead to the a new innovation growth path, focused on entrepreneurship and innovation. It has been his dream, beginning with helping to establish the Sister City partnership between Kochi, Kerala/India and Menlo Park in 2015, to this new MoU with Gujarat, and more. Mukul is very pleased to share with Indian start-ups the wisdom and networks of the Silicon Valley to enable them to scale on the world stage.
BootUP was pleased to welcome delegates from the University of Eswatini and the Royal Science & Technology Park, visiting Silicon Valley on a learning journey. Mukul Agarwal, Founder & CEO of BootUP Ventures, shared his insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, and what it takes to build a vibrant startup ecosystem. Thank you to SVIC for providing us the opportunity to meet with this dynamic group of change makers. We look forward to building a bridge with Swaziland!
On October 23, a Bavarian delegation led by the Munich/Upper Bavaria Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Munich) visited BootUP to learn more about our Venture Studio and how we work with companies to help them innovate. The delegation included 11 representatives from German companies, as well as representatives from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy and Technology. We thank GACC West for providing us with the opportunity to meet this great group from Bavaria! We look forward to more visits to come!
